neurologist, cardiologist and optamologist... oh my!

This spring is proving to be a very busy one. We have been to a lot of doctor's appointments for different children for a variety of reasons. I blogged about the upcoming appointments HERE!

I received medical forms in the mail to fill out before their appointments. You know how it will ask you the health history of the patient and the patients great great grandparents (basically), but with the girls all I can put is "unknown". I think as an adoptive parent (at least for me), it is hard to not know things about your child. Where they full term? What was their birth weight? When did they smile the first time? What was their first word? When did they walk? The list can go on and on. I don't dwell on it, because it is something we'll never know. I also don't dwell on it because I know my God knows and I am content knowing that my girls were able to spend their first years with their birth family.

Our worst outcome thus far is that Hannah will probably need glasses by the time she is school age...not a big deal at all and I am so thankful!

My middle son, John, does have an MRI scheduled for today because he has been having some issues with migraines. They think it is heredity (I get them), but because of his medical history they just want to make sure that everything is ok.

We have been enjoying the time on the road. Most of our appointments have been at least a half and hour away. I have been getting the kids books on cd from the library and they are addicted. It really helps pass the time. We do some school while we are waiting on the doctors and that helps keeps the noise levels to a minimal. When you are in a small room with five kids, it gets loud...fast! They all do very well... I am one blessed mamma.

I hope each one of you is enjoying the spring! It has been beautiful here in central Indiana...

Glad the appts. are going well. I have thought about the 'unknowns' on the medical forms, etc. However, I love your perspective and I love thinking about that God was there for all the firsts that I am missing.

How far are you from Valparaiso, IN? That is where I went to college :) Happy Spring!

Oh and enter the giveaway on my blog when you get a chance, I think the kids would love the cds.
Blessings,
Amy

glad that glasses are the only outcome so far with all the appts. i totally get the frustration of not knowing all the details of our dear ones births and lives before they came home to us. thankful that god can give us peace with that.

I see you posted this BEFORE the torrential downpour last night!! OH MY!! It's good to hear the peace God has given you in the midst of the chaos of having 5 little ones. Will pray for the upcoming MRI!

That sounds like really great news! Praying that the MRI goes smoothly and for peace for John while he is undergoing the very loud test!

So far so good! If you need help with kids during appointments, I am always willing to help!

ok i HATE the unknown stuff for Zoe's med forms b/c, almost EVERY time, they ask "you REALLY have no other info?" like I am holding out on them. or else "I really wish we had more med history on her to know for sure"-uh, you and me both clown doctor!! jeez, annoying. ANyhoo, If you have to get your sweetie glasses and can wait a bit, WalMart optical (if you have one near you) does a GREAT deal from the beginning of August till October I think where ALL childrens' glasses are half off-and they come with a 12-month guarantee so even if one sister accidentally and hypothetically sits on the other sister's glasses and the frame breaks a month after buying them, they STILL replace it free of charge. again, hypothetically of course....;) I just love your cute family!!
