For those of you who are new to the blog and are not familiar with John's story you can read here and here to get caught up!
Two weeks ago John had his yearly ultrasound on his stomach. The reason he gets these done is to make sure his organs are still functioning fine and that they are not getting larger. His right kidney has always been larger than the left, so they just keep an eye on that too. The ultrasound tech said everything looked great. I asked what he means by that (we hadn't had his gentleman before). He clarified that his kidneys were in normal range. He said the right is still slightly larger, but within normal range! I was excited but also wanted to stay cautiously optimistic until we say Dr. E, John's geneticist.
Yesterday we got to see Dr. E. This man is amazing. I just can't even explain how comforting it is to know that someone finally understands what is going on with John. He did the normal physical on him and he confirmed what the ultrasound has said. YAY!!!!!
He told me that for now we do not need to continue with the ultrasounds and just follow up with him once a year. PRAISE THE LORD!! Oh I can't even tell you how happy I am. I think I floated out of that office. I thought ultrasounds were going to be a way of life for my little guy, but I was wrong.
It doesn't mean his hemihypertrophy is gone. He will have it forever and we still do need to watch him for changes, but for me this news is huge! There are so many horrible things that can go wrong with what he has, but John hasn't had any of them. I am so thankful.
I know we have had a lot of friends and family praying for John and we are so grateful to each one of you. There are so many of you that have followed his story from the beginning and have been so faithful to our family. The only prayer I have for John right now is for continued health and one side of his face is getting freckles, but his effected side is not. I am praying that Dr. E will be wrong and he will get freckles on both sides. This may seem like a shallow pray request, but I am his mom and I want the best for him!
On a side note. Dr. E and his partner run one of two adoption clinics in the state. I told him yesterday that we are adopting and he was truly excited for us. Once we get our referral we will have to go to his partner to review the medical forms and then once we get our children into the states they'll see Dr. E. His nurse gave me her direct number so they can get us right in when we get our referral... sweet!

Wonderful news!! I've never prayed for freckles before, but I will now:)
Holy cow!
1) PRIASE GOD!
2) I'll be praying that John receives perfect balance from the Lord.
You must be so so happy! What a sweet little boy he is...
I know what you mean about wanting the best for your little guy!
Keep us posted!
Warmly

Great news. I knew the appointment was coming up- Thanks for the update. I love the new blog look- makes me hope for spring!!!dyste
What great news! I'm so happy for you guys. And, that's so cool a doctor you are already familiar with will be able to see your new Ethiopian blessings. I'm always thinking God must think some of the things I pray about are silly, but really He wants us to share our hearts and concerns with him. So - praying for freckles! :)
