John had a follow up appointment with his Oral Surgeon and Orthodontist this afternoon. A year ago he had some of his gum tissue removed and biopsied (came back normal). The Oral Surgeon did this with only laughing gas and John did fine. I can't even express what an amazing kid he is.
Today they checked his mouth to make sure the gum growth was at a minimal and took more xrays. John did fine and doesn't need to go back for another year. I am encouraged by this. His face is the most affected area of the hemihypertrophy, so to not need to follow up for one year is wonderful. He will need braces when he is around eight, depending on his growth, but that is not a big deal.
We started searching for answers when John was about 6 months old and after being referred with each visit to a different doctor, we finally found three fabulous Doctors when he was four. I am so thankful to God for these men, the knowledge that they have and what they have done for John. We now have answers that earlier I didn't think we'd ever find.
