Homestudy Update

Thanks to each one of you who prayed for our homestudy meeting on Wednesday! It went really well! She commented a few times about how well the girls were doing (we did not use her for our first adoption so this was the first time she met them). I think that helped ease her mind that we are able to care for more children. We also showed her our large master bedroom that will turn into a boys room once our son(s) come home and once again she saw that we have a plan and have room for a couple more cuties!

She did not come out and tell us that she'll write down that we are approved for more than one, but we both have a good feeling that she is more open to the idea now.

We have our final meeting her her this coming Tuesday and after that we wait for her to write the homestudy and have it approved by our adoption agency.

Once our adoption agency approves the homestudy we then send it off to the US government. They will finger print us and process our request to bring children into this country. When we get approved everything will then be sent to Ug*nda (UG) and then we wait for a referral!!! Our caseworker said we'd wait around 3 months for a referral. We will not be on a wait list this time, because we are the only family right now that is open to older children, but it still takes a while to get all the paperwork in order.

With UG adoptions we do not do a dossier (just a fancy word for A LOT OF PAPERWORK) until after we receive a referral. This is different than Ethiopia, because we had to have the dossier done before they sent it there. The dossier for UG is very simple compared to what was required for Ethiopia and that makes this momma happy!

Thank you so much for joining us on our journey to bring our son(s) home!

So glad it went well!!! Has Ug*nda just opened it's doors to adoptions? I seem to remember that previously you had to live in the country for 3 years prior to adopting. They must have recently changed? I'm so glad they have changed!!!

Yay!!!! I am so glad it went well, and I am just dying to see who God has next for your family! I can't believe you will only have to wait a few months for the referral!!!!
