Daily comments...

Yes, they are all mine...

No, I do not run a daycare and I don't care to take your number so I can watch yours...

Yes, they are twins even though they don't look alike...

No, I am not babysitting for a friend...

No, I am not a foster mom...

Yes, my hands are full, but not in the way you are thinking...

Yes, our brains are functioning just fine...

No, we didn't adopt just so we could finally have girls...

No, I didn't commit adultery (I HAVE been asked this)...

As you can imagine, we do get lots of *interesting* comments when we are out. I have learned to not get upset with the non-intellegant questions or to take it personally. God picked this family with His own hands and we are daily reminded that we need to live for Him. We can have such a positive impact on the world around us, because we are different. I will use our unique family structure to share the love of Christ with the world. I am thankful for the opportunity to serve the Lord in this way. I am blessed!

What a great attitude and witness for Christ! I can't believe you actually get asked those questions, silly people. Your family is gorgeous inside and out!

P.S. These family photos are incredible! Love all the smiles!

I get the most goofy twin questions:
are they identical? (well one is a boy and one is a girl so duh)
why don't they look alike?--assuming that two non identical twins will look anymore alike than any two siblings (and mine do look a lot alike with kayla's hair short)
but I espcially love, "Oh, are they twins?" Well, they are both in kindergarten, both are exactly 45 inches tall and both weigh 45 lbs. That's about as twin like as you can get without being identical.

glad you didn't commit adultery...WHAT THE HECK????!!!!! i appreciate that you have a gracious attitude about the comments b/c i am sure it can get really old. i haven't gotten a lot of comments (to my face at least). i feel sad when other ap's seem bitter about other people's curiousity b/c then they might miss out on the opportunity that you are fully aware that is yours...GIVING GOD GLORY. which your family does just by being a family. love the pix!

Who would really ask you about adultery? For real? Some people are freaks ;) Wow, I thought that I had heard it all. . .

What a privilege to "stand out" for the Lord. I feel like b/c of our family dynamics it makes it easier to share about the gospel. I, too, am blessed!!

Blows my mind! I cannot believe someone asked if you had an affair? Seriously??!!

Until recently, I could have said I only heard ONE comment. By an little boy in the library who probably has ausbergers... so no biggie.

Last week in Walmart, a lady said "Are you a foster parent?" NO. (and since I didn't get any comments before, I didn't even know what she was referring to.) Then she said "Is he a friend?" My reply. NO. He's MINE. and smiled.

Remember that old line: MYOB. She was rather invasive... asking other questions just "to be in the know". Why do they think they can ask all kinds of personal things like "does he have other family in Ethiopia?" and such??

Sorry, your post got me on a rant but you probably anticipated that....
LOL :)

We don't get as many of these comments as you, I'm sure. In fact, when my husband isn't with us, nobody ever asks about the boys being adopted. I do, however, get the "Boy, you have your hands full!" all the time-especially since I often have my 5 year old niece as well as the 2 little ones and the 2 teens. I've also gotten "Better you than me" to which I always respond,"yes, I'm glad they're mine not yours too!"
