Last week we ventured to visit Monte's mom and step dad in Oklahoma. We left at night and drove the 10 hours straight through. I really think I am getting too old for that. It doesn't bother me while we are driving, but I feel like it takes me days to catch up on my sleep.
I remember when I was in college, I would drive home to Maine on 4 hours of sleep and not miss a beat. Those were the days.
We drive through the night because it is what works best for us. Monte and I trade off driving and since the kids sleep for most of it we don't hear, "Are we there yet?" every five minutes.
The first day we just hung out and went to a cousin's pool. At night we went to Kiddie Park. It is a little amusement park for toddlers/preschools and it is always a highlight of our trip. The rides cost no more than 50 cents, so they are able to ride a lot of rides for not a lot of money. That is my type of amusement park!
On the 4th of July we loaded everyone up and went to a water park. We visited this water park last year and had a blast. It is great because they allow kids to go down the water slides with their parents/grandparents. A lot of places don't allow that, so it is fun to do that with the boys. I don't so well keeping them above the water at the end of the slide, so John is the really the only kid that will go with me. They also have a little kids area with their slides that are their size. I didn't get any pictures while we were there. I was too busy having fun! That night we went and saw some fireworks.
We left Saturday night after we visited Kiddie Park one last time. We had a really good time and as always the time goes by too fast!
Monte drove most of the way home (I knew I needed to put this in here or I would hear about it) while I slept like a baby. Thanks honey!
Isaac is so handsome and getting so big!
John LOVES the water and is becoming a very strong swimmer.
