Keeping me on my toes!

My three year old, Josiah, is such an amazing kid. You are going to hear a lot about how amazing all of my kids are, God has blessed me with three wonderful boys! Josiah has overcome so much in his short life. Listening to him now, you’d never guess that a little over a year ago, at 29 months, he was hardly talking and had therapy twice a week with three different therapists. He can talk your ear off like any other three year old now. I still praise to God for all he has done and all the wisdom he has given us in raising Josiah.

Josiah is a very unique and strong willed child. He likes things the best if they are broken, loves to get negative reactions from his brothers and likes to see how far he can push the limits. The child keeps me on my toes at all times.

The other day all the boys were drawing at the table and I was doing some computer work (I make blogging sound so important). Josiah comes to me with his drawing and says “Mommy look”, he was very proud, so I equaled his enthusiasm and asked “Oh Josiah that is lovely, what did you draw?” His answer “They’re butts Mommy.” BUTTS, can you even believe it? I about fell over. My three year old is drawing butts… oh Lord what have I done wrong? I honestly didn’t know what to say to him, so I didn’t say anything while he proudly went to show his brothers. Let me just tell you, the butt picture is NOT one I will be keeping!

Oh there is more… on Saturday while I was painting upstairs, Josiah was downstairs. He was being very quiet, so I yelled down and asked him what he was doing and he told me he was getting a drink. Well, as you know from my previous post we have water in the fridge door and the boys can get water whenever they want, so no biggie. I went back to painting. A few minutes later Isaac went downstairs and within seconds is yelling up at me “Mommy, Josiah is drinking syrup.” SYRUP… what?? Yes, my child was drinking syrup right from the bottle that he retrieved from the pantry. To my surprise he didn’t have a sugar high. I was grateful that I buy lite syrup and more importantly that he is surrounded in prayer!

On the flip side, when it is time to do school he’ll go get the map of the continents and name them all off, at three! He has known all his letters and sounds for many many months now. He is my child that comes and asks me to cuddle him often and oh does he love to read. Josiah is a great boy who is making his unique mark within our family! I am so thankful for his life.

He would keep you on your toes. It's kids like him that make a mom grow eyes in the back of her head:)

He sounds brilliant, actually.
