My dear firstborn,
It was 7 years ago today that your Dad and I walked into the hospital ready to have our first baby boy. Your original due date was the 14th, but after waiting and waiting, our doctor decided to induce. It was 9 days after 9/11, so the day was filled with lots of emotions, but mostly anxiousness and pure joy! You came to us at 8:48p at 8lb. 12oz. and 20in.!
The name Isaac means laughter. You have lived up to your name from a very young age. Your laughter still comes very easily and I don’t think I will ever get enough of it. It is contagious and makes me smile every time.
I remember when you were around 18 months old. You loved to hide behind our floor length curtains. Your cubby little feet would stick out the bottom, but you thought you were invisible. You would say, “Mama, where’s Ikee?” It was the cutest thing!
You have always welcomed our new additions with open arms and are a very good big brother. Your brothers think the world of you and never want to be away from you. They look up to you and you do a very good job teaching them. You are so excited to bring 2 more Alexander’s into our home.
You are such a compassionate child. On the day that you asked Daddy to explain hell to you, you cried for a long time for the people who were there and told us you didn’t want anyone else to go there. What a sweet spirit you have.
You are doing very well in school this year. I am amazed at how well you can learn from your mama’s teaching! You love math, science, writing and you can’t get enough of art/crafts. You are not as excited about the reading, but you are starting to pick it up more with each passing day.
Right now you are playing flag football. You are one of the youngest ones on your team, but you don’t let that discourage you. You have enjoyed it, but you told me that you don’t think you want to play next year. That will remain to be seen!
You have been playing piano right at a year now. You do very well at it! You have gone past Mommies ability, so if you mess up I have no clue, but I have not let you in on the secret yet.
Thank you Jesus for blessing me with Isaac Arlen Alexander.
I am so proud of you! Oh and if you could STOP GROWING now, please. That would make me VERY happy!
I love you
Mom
